Brandeis Machinery/Bramco Wins Kentucky Quality Award
Frankfort, KY. -- October 24, 2000 -- Bramco, Inc of Louisville and Dana Corporation of Elizabethtown were awarded the Governor's Gold Quality Award during the fourth annual Commonwealth of Kentucky Quality Awards banquet tonight at Louisville's Seelbach Hilton Hotel. Twenty-five other Kentucky businesses were honored for their commitment to excellence and "world-class" quality standards.
Created by Governor Paul Patton in 1997, the quality awards model the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, a country-wide recognition program established by Congress in 1987 to enhance competitiveness, promote quality awareness and recognize companies who blend these qualities in superior performance.
Governor Patton offered congratulations, " Kentucky honors these organizations and the positive business environment they help create. These best practice examples can serve to inspire and guide our businesses as we continue to operate in the new economy."
Organizations applying for the award must document significant achievement in seven areas including: leadership, strategic planning, customer and market focus, information analysis, human resource development, management and business results. An independent board of 120 examiners evaluates the applications after which teams may visit the applicants to verify or clarify initial application information. Each applicant receives a "feedback" report outlining strengths and opportunities for improvement in their performance management system.
Bramco, Inc and Dana Corporation received the highest level of recognition, the Governor's Gold Quality Award. Both companies demonstrated management excellence with superior results and a dedication to the "world-class" quality standards.
